The Red Cherry Shrimp is an extremely hardy shrimp.  It is the first shrimp I have had breed in my tanks and there is no stopping them now.  They eat the most kinds of algae known for shrimps and work hard to keep tanks clean.  An excellent beginner shrimp the only drawback is that once established they can overpopulate small tanks.  Males are less colorful with only red tiger like stripes. I currently have six different family lines from which I cross breed for intense red coloration in seven different aquariums.  If you are interested in buying some I sell the highest quality possible mini colonies.  Be warned of the overpopulation issue.  Red Cherries are omnivores and you really don't need to feed them as they eat up all uneaten food from your fish as well as any dead fish and algae but they will not harm a egg, fry, or other shrimps.  Red Cherry Shrimp are an all around excellent addition to a peaceful species community tank or by themselves  as I prefer in at least one aquarium.
